Robots
I just saw a video from the World Economic Forum about a robot that read 3.5 million books dating back to the year 1900 to look for gender bias in how we describe men and women. Guess what, the robot found it - this won't be any surprise to women, but maybe people will believe it now a robot says so (who could possibly be more neutral and objective than that?)
So women are most likely to be described as beautiful, sexy or gorgeous - whilst men are brave, rational or righteous (I know, righteous? They did go back to 1900 remember).
What's really scary in all this is that AI is going to learn gender bias too because it learns from seeing patterns in the words and data. So we're passing our unconscious biases onto the machines that are going to be making all the decisions for us in the future.
We absolutely must urgently change the way we show and talk about women, or we're going to be stuck in this self-fulfilling gender inequality prophecy forever.
