Invisible knowledge

When will we finally learn the lesson that exclusion is bad and inclusion is good for us all?

Evidence is showing that the corona virus is more deadly for men than for women, but nobody can explain why because immunology research has focussed on male mammals and now there is a realization that there was a lot to be learnt from the female immune system.

It was the same with stress research - women were excluded until the 1990s because they were deemed too complex, so many important insights are only just coming to light.

I wonder how many more examples we need before we understand that, whilst it may seem simpler and faster in the short-term to ignore information and input from diverse groups, in the end we discover that we missed important things - and we all lose.

We are missing opportunities in the workplace every day because of lack of inclusion and the invisible knowledge that lies untapped as a result - maybe this is another of the important things this virus will make us understand.
